What is the most common feature almost seen in every mobile phone? What is the latest technology which has become so popular? Well no guesses on this one. I will straight away tell the answer which is the Bluetooth Technology. It has enabled us to access pictures, music etc very easily from one mobile phone to another. It is one of the hottest topics in today’s time among the wireless developers. Let me give you an insight into what exactly is the Bluetooth Technology? It is basically an industrial specification for wireless personal area networks PANs. In another words it is a specification for the use of low-power radio communications to wirelessly link phones, computers and other network devices over short distances.

I am sure everyone would be interested to know where it derived its name? Why is it called Bluetooth? This specific word Bluetooth is taken from the tenth century Danish king Harald Bluetooth. Did you know that King Bluetooth had been influential in uniting Scandinavian Europe during an era when the region was torn apart by wars and feuding clans. ? Besides this it is also very important to know about the Bluetooth Special Interest Group. I am sure anyone who must have seen the logo must have thought from where its logo has been trademarked? It is trademarked by the privately held trade association named the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG). I will now share with you what exactly is the Bluetooth SIG. Leaders in the field of telecommunications, computing, network, industrial automation, and automotive industries have united to form the Bluetooth Special Interest Group. It was founded in September 1998. Since then they have been working a lot on their bit and the Bluetooth SIG is responsible for encouraging and supporting research and development in Bluetooth technology. Many promoter member companies such as Microsoft, Ericsson, IBM, Intel, Agere, Motorola, Nokia, and Toshiba, are all included in the Bluetooth Special Interest Group. It is fascinating to know that the developers of this wireless technology initially used the term Bluetooth only as a code name but over a period of time they finally stuck to the name permanently.

There were two main reasons given why the members of Bluetooth SIG stuck to the name. Firstly Bluetooth technology was first developed in Scandinavia and secondly because this Bluetooth technology is able to unite different industries such as the cell phone, computing, and automotive markets. This exceptional wireless technology is able to simplify and combine multiple forms of wireless communication into a single, secure, low-power, low-cost, globally available radio frequency. All in all this magnificent technology is day by day gaining popularity and I am happy people are getting quite excited to know about Bluetooth Technology.
