Kyiv is the city where the new and the ancient make wonderful chances for cultural and aesthetical exploration. Nevertheless, before you visit this mythical city, take some time to figure out at least 2 questions: accommodation and transport.

Let us discuss choosing a place to stay. Start by considering your budget and personal preference, you could either choose to stay in a Kiev hotel, or rent an apartment. Mind the class of Kiev hotels to estimate the comfort you require and the price you can afford.

Kiev has a number of five and four star hotels. There are virtually tens and tens of less chic Kiev accommodation facilities. A luxury accommodation will cost you around $400-850 per night, 4 stars will cost $150-$500, three stars will cost you about $70-300, two stars will cost from $50 to 120 and 1 star hotels charge around 25-100 per night.

There exist also several hostels in Kiev for students and young people. In a regular hostel you can have modest but fresh accommodation facilities and some beds in one and the same room.

In case you want to spare some money, you might want to rent an apartment. Instead of a small hotel room for about $90-150 you could rent a luxury apartment in the downtown. Inexpensive one-room apartments may be found for less than $50. Some owners that give for rent such Kyiv apartments may even offer to meet you at the airport. It would be much safer to reserve the flat some days ahead.

If you are really desperate for money or would like to have something more extreme, you may try renting sleeping space inside a train. There is a train depot not far from the train station ?Karavaevy dachi? where you may rent a sleeping place for about $15. Try the option at your own danger.

Of course noone comes to Kyiv to stay indoors. The megalopolis provides lots of wonderful places to visit if you can get around. There's nothing to worry about, though. The public transportation is quite decent.

The most comfortable way to move around is Kiev taxis. They will deliver you you from the airport to your hotel or apartment for no more than $35. Generally, for a foreigner, the taxi service should be quite inexpensive. It is a pleasure to taxi Kiev around. Nevertheless, if you do not plan on using only taxis in Kyiv, the city has some other transport options to offer.

In the first place, it is the metro that covers most of the city. It is very convenient when you travel a long way during hot hours with huge traffic jams on the roads. Second, you can use buses, trolley busses and trams. These types of transport are rather cheep: you are charged a fixed fee to travel any distance. However, they are not very regular. Third, you can travel afoot or use Kiev's special transportation - funicular that escalates the bank of the Dnieper. And finally, you can simply walk around.

Come visit Kyiv. This city has got plenty of entertainments to impress a curious visitor.
